Infrared photography is near-infrared photography.  People see many reds, oranges, yellows, blues, greens, and purples.  These are different visible light spectrums.  Infrared is a picture of an area which is sensitive to wavelengths higher than those visible to the human eye.  Thus turning most visible colors to snow-like.  Orher attributes of infrared photographs include very dark skies and penetration of atmospheric haze.
